Christie's poll numbers stay low after Bridgegate scandal

A new poll finds Governor Christie's job approval rating has still not recovered from the George Washington Bridge scandal.  A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday finds New Jersey voters are divided in their opinions of Christie, with 49 percent approving of the job he's doing and 47 percent disapproving.  The numbers mark Christie's lowest net job approval rating in the poll since August 2011.  Christie also gets negative ratings for his handling of most key issues, including the economy, the state budget and education.

Still, 48 percent of voters believe that lawmakers investigating the bridge closure are engaged in a "witch hunt," with 41 percent seeing it as a legitimate investigation.

The poll of 1,148 voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
